Frisbee the seal

The issue of plastic in our marine environment was highlighted in our region last year when a seal was rescued in Norfolk with a frisbee stuck round her neck.
The seal - now nicknamed Frisbee - was rescued by the Friends of Horsey Seals and taken to the East Winch RSPCA centre nearby where she is being cared for until the wound caused by the plastic heals.
2017 was the year when plastic pollution gained real mainstream attention in the press, on social media and on television, in particular in the stunning Blue Planet 2 with David Attenborough.
Water companies need to play their part in tackling this issue, that’s why we fund BeachCare groups around the East coast which see volunteers out picking litter and monitoring wildlife. We’re also supporting Refill Norwich, a project to reduce plastic bottle waste. And through our Keep It Clear campaign we’re pushing the message that unflushables such as wet wipes and cotton buds can cause marine pollution.
