Nixon and the Supreme Court

November 17, 2011: Important officials in the development and execution of President Nixon's policy regarding the Judicial Branch gathered at the National Archives in Washington, D.C. to discuss the impact and legacy of Nixon's Supreme Court Appointments. Particular attention was devoted to the transition from the Warren Court to the Burger Court. The panel included Fred Fielding, deputy counsel to President Nixon, and White House Counsel to Presidents Reagan, and George W. Bush; Pat Buchanan, Nixon speechwriter and senior adviser; Wallace Johnson, former Associate Deputy Attorney General in charge of Congressional Relations; Earl Silbert, former U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia; and G. Robert Blakey, former Majority Counsel of the Senate Judiciary.
