Folares da Páscoa - Easter Bread
Folares da Páscoa is a traditional Portuguese Easter bread that is made during the Easter holiday. This is a sweet bread with whole eggs placed in the centre of the bread. Soft and delicious.
TIPS;
* The best time to start this recipe for me is early in the morning.. (6 am) and by 6 pm the folares will be ready and out of the oven OR start in the late evening ( 9pm) and leave the dough rising overnight... wake up early the next morning and place the dough in the pans for the 2nd rise.... and by 1pm your folares are ready and out of the oven.
* It took 5-6 hours for the initial dough to rise
* Once you place the dough in the pans - the dough will take anywhere from 2 to 3 additional hours to rise to the top of the pan.
* Ensure that you keep the dough covered to rise in a warm area
* Brush egg wash on the folares, just before placing them in the oven
* The small (mini) folares were baked for 30 minutes
* The larger folares are baked in the oven for 1 hour at 305 degrees. (At the 45 minute mark, place a skewer in the folare. If it comes out clean it's ready... if not leave it in the oven for an additional 15 minutes.)
