Enjoy this extract from Appalachian Spring, by American composer Aaron Copland. In this part of the ballet, a hopeful young Pioneer couple prepare for their wedding day. It's conducted by Santtu-Matias Rouvali, the Philharmonia's new Principal Conductor. In autumn 2021 he presented Human / Nature: music for a precious planet, a series exploring how composers have addressed humanity's relationship with the natural world.
