Why $1 is better than $100 in Venezuela. How to pay with dollars and bolivares, and fight for money

Full video here: https://youtu.be/Y9ilCdefJ-8 | In Venezuela you need two types of currency - US dollars and bolivares (lots of both). And be ready to fight for your change! Here's why:
Prices can be listed in two currencies. BS means bolivares. REF means reference, which is code for US dollars.
The bolivar is the official currency. You’ll need a lot, because it isn’t worth much. Bolivares are mostly used to buy small items like vegetables, bread or bus rides.
For most other things, you use US dollars, which have been officially allowed since 2019. But it's hard to get dollars, so bring lots with you, especially small notes.
Nobody wants the big benjamins. A $1 note has more street value than $100. That's because no one has small change. You'll be constantly asked: “Tienes mas sencillo?” It means: “Do you have any smaller notes?”
But don't give in! Hang on to your small bills. And check your change - don't accept so-called broken notes, as they are effectively worthless.
