▶️Video Description

Water enters the tower through an inlet manifold and is discharged through spray nozzles. The water then passes through the fill and falls into the basin. Air is induced through the fill by an axial fan and exits through the top of the tower.

Some of the water evaporates as the air passes over it. The water that evaporates cools the remaining water in a process known as evaporative cooling.

Some of the evaporated water is recaptured by the drift eliminator, but some escapes the top of the tower as drift. Drift represents a financial loss, so should be minimised as much as possible.

As the counter flow cooling tower does not rely upon natural convection to operate, the shape of the tower is not important (natural draft towers utilise a hyperboloid shape).

That is how a wet induced draft counter flow cooling tower works!
