Deadly shooting near SouthPark Mall in south Charlotte

One person has died after a shooting in Charlotte's SouthPark neighborhood early Monday morning. It happened on Barclay Downs Drive, not far from SouthPark Mall.

Medic responded to the scene and transported a victim to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries, but the victim has since died.

A resident said he was on his way out when he saw another neighbor performing CPR on the woman on the ground. He said he immediately ran over to help.

“She still had a pulse, and we continued to give her CPR, but we couldn’t bring her back,” he said. “By the time police and everyone else got here, she was gone.”
