Rainwater Harvesting: First Flush Diverters A Waste Of Money?
Conventional wisdom is that a flush diverter is important to a healthy, effective rainwater harvesting system, but what does research say? Do flush diverters play the important role they are though to?
After doing an extensive literature review we wrote a book on rainwater harvesting that would allow anyone to understand the state of the science so that best practices could be employed when designing and building a rainwater harvesting system. Ultimately your local authority will dictate how you need to build a system in order to meet code, however, regardless of code there are several elements that every rainwater harvesting system must implement in order to ensure high-quality rainwater.
It turns out that a first flush diverter does not appear to improve the water quality coming out of a rainwater harvesting system. In this video I will discuss which components do make a difference.
