"Chop your own wood and it will warm you twice." Did Henry Ford really say that?

#89: As a family that depends on firewood to provide heat for our home through the fall and winter, we obviously spend a lot of time cutting and splitting wood. We always wondered if Henry Ford really said, "Chop your own wood, and it will warm you twice," a quote you often see repeated and attributed to him. We'll answer that question as we get firewood ready for winter. Oh, and we'll see how dry a dead standing white oak tree really is with a moisture meter. +AMDG
