Lebanon - Visit President Chirac

French President Jacques Chirac on Saturday (6/4) urged Lebanon to
draft a democratic election law to encourage strong participation
in legislative elections scheduled later in the year.
Chirac's three-day visit to Lebanon was the first by a French head
of state since the country gained independence from France in
1943. He inaugurated restoration work at the Residence des Pins,
the war-ravaged French embassy in Beirut.
