Chest X-ray air-fluid levels vs anatomy
A brief video concerning the demonstration of air fluid levels and the differences when performing AP chest exams with an angled central ray. Our problem is that when we angle the tube so that anatomic relations are preserved, we often lose our air-fluid level demonstrations! So which is more important, to show the fluid levels or to show a more or less anatomically accurate image? Remember that when the patient is on a stretcher or wheelchair and the tube is not correctly angled, the lung fields appear foreshortened.
