Grand Rapids firefighters rappel down City Hall
Grand Rapids Fire Department rescue personnel rappelled down City Hall as a part of a rope rescue training course on Friday, April 26. Michigan Urban Search and Rescue provided instruction for the exercise. The non-profit organization has provided technical rescue field training to first responders since 1991.
“This kind of training helps us be prepared when we’re called,” said Grand Rapids Fire Department Capt. Joaquin Martinez, who also serves as an instructor for the organization.
