She’s not the only young star to get swindled by her parents. “Home Alone” star Macaulay Cuklin went through a very public court battle with his parents after they took advantage of the star’s $17 million worth of career earnings. “Gossip Girl” star Leighton Meester had problems with her mother from the very beginning and found out she was stealing money meant to go to her brother’s medical bills, and “Donnie Darko” star Jena Malone had to become emancipated from her parents to protect the millions of dollars she’d earned in her young career.

Musicians are also prone to being taken advantage of by their parents. Aaron Carter actually went bankrupt thanks to his parents spending his money, and LeAnn Rimes didn’t speak to her father for years after he and her manager stole $8 million.
