Dorothy Gibson, the actress of the film was actually on the doomed ocean liner and survived the disaster. She co-wrote the script of the movie and even wore the same clothes in the film that she wore on the night Titanic sank, a white silk evening dress topped with a cardigan and polo coat. The film was made in less than a week and was only 10 minutes long which was pretty standard for the films in that era.
