In Anantapur district, a troubling situation has created fear among farmers in Pedda Vaduguru mandal. Over the past few days, several haystacks (stored grass for cattle) suddenly caught fire one after another. This is a very serious issue because farmers work hard throughout the year to store this grass, especially for the summer season when fresh fodder is not available. Farmers like Ganganna, Jaddu Veerareddy, and Vijay Bhaskar Reddy suffered heavy losses. In one case alone, Vijay Bhaskar Reddy lost hay worth around ₹2 lakhs. Altogether, five haystacks were burned, causing losses of several lakhs. More importantly, cattle are now left without food, which makes the situation even worse for farmers who depend on them for their livelihood. At first, people thought it might be an accident due to the hot weather. But police investigated the matter seriously. With the help of CCTV cameras, they found that a person named Sudhakar was deliberately setting fire to the haystacks. The footage clearly showed him committing the act. Under the leadership of SI Anjaneyulu, police arrested the accused and started an inquiry. However, after the arrest, a new controversy started. Some people began spreading messages on social media, claiming it was an issue of caste discrimination. They used the police interrogation video to create confusion and gain attention. This has upset many local people and farmers. Villagers are questioning this narrative. They say, “A crime is a crime, no matter who commits it.” Their main concern is the loss they suffered and the safety of their livelihood. They believe bringing caste into this issue is wrong and distracts from the real problem. Farmers are now requesting the government to take strict action against the accused and to stop false propaganda. They want justice, safety, and support to recover from their losses.
