The "Dragon's Blood" Island That Doesn't Look Real (Socotra, Yemen)

There's an island so alien, so completely bizarre, that one-third of its plant life exists nowhere else on Earth.
This is Socotra, Yemen where trees literally bleed red, look like giant umbrellas, and seem designed by a sci-fi artist, not nature.
Meet the Dragon's Blood Tree:
Twisted umbrella-shaped giants that can live for 800+ years
Ooze deep crimson red sap when cut (used as medicine, dye, and "magic" for centuries)
Look so alien that NASA uses Socotra as a reference for what extra-terrestrial landscapes might look like
Walking through Socotra feels like stepping onto another planet. Bottle trees with swollen water-storing trunks. Desert roses blooming in impossible twisted shapes. Cucumber trees that look like they belong in a Dr. Seuss book.
Scientists call it "the Galápagos of the Indian Ocean" — and for good reason.
But here's the heart-breaking truth:
This island survived 20 million years of isolation, only to now face destruction from climate change and Yemen's devastating ongoing war.

Tourists can barely reach it
Locals struggle to protect it
The ancient dragon trees are disappearing faster than they can regrow

Socotra isn't just the most alien place on Earth.
It's endangered.
