💀 DAY OF THE DEAD FULL FACE PAINTING 🥀 Mixquic Mexico 🇲🇽 (Día de Muertos La Catrina Mexico City)
Face Painting on Day of the Dead 2021 is a time honored tradition in Mexico. There are certain parts of Mexico that is famous for celebrating Day of the Dead, especially in the state of Oaxaca.
Mixquic, Mexico City CDMC 🇲🇽🥀💀
However, Mixquic, a town on the outskirts of Mexico City, takes Day of the Dead very seriously, with a huge festival. It felt less commercial than when I went to the Day of the Dead parade in Mexico City, so I actually preferred it.
I asked Michelle to do the make-up for me at this year's Day of the Dead. She had already been working 13 hours doing make-up on festival goers. I let her decide what to give me. She decided on La Catrina, a skull face. I think she did fantastic. I'm grateful and proud of her.
The church in this town goes all out on this day. This town celebrates Dia de Muertos with candles, flowers, decorations, prayers and offerings to the max. The streets and the church were packed with people enjoying ponce, pulque, tamales, and more.
You will see family at the grave site, decorating the grave beautifully, lighting candles, leaving offerings, and prayers. Some will sing, and even sit until late in the night making sure the candles stay lit.
One of the most recognized yearly events that is celebrated throughout Mexico is Día de los Muertos. This celebration is rich in rituals and expresses the unique and exceptional relationship that Mexicans have with death and with their ancestors.
I look at it like this. It isn't a celebration to fear, but rather a display of their love for family.
One of the strongest and most recognizable symbols of The Day of the Dead celebrations is the tall female skeleton wearing a fancy hat with feathers.
It is believed that the Aztecs worshipped a goddess of death that they alleged protected their departed loved ones, helping them into the next stages. The Mexican tradition of honoring and celebrating the dead is entrenched deeply in the culture of its people.
Remember your loved ones, whether they are with you now or not. Be grateful for life. It is a reminder that we will all die someday. Death is coming. Let's live every day like it is our last. Tell the ones you love that you love them. Say thank you to those you are grateful for. I'm grateful for all of you out there.
The cost for Day of the Dead face painting make-up: 170 Mexican Pesos.
(20 Pesos for removal of previous decoration on my face and 150 Pesos for the full Dia De Los Muertos make-up face panting).
Thank you to @ToddsMexico for taking me here.
