No other product is so strongly linked to Austria as pumpkin seed oil from Styria. The "green gold" with its unmistakable dark color and nutty taste has also arrived in the star cuisine and can reach a market value of up to one hundred euros per litre. Lovers of this dark, chewy and nutty oil can be found all over the world. Thanks to their commercial success, "Kernöl" producers in Austria have been given the nickname "Ölscheichs" ("Oil Sheikhs").
