Herb Alpert - Rise [45 RPM EDIT]

Released in 1979, this single was featured prominently on the popular soap opera “General Hospital”, which boosted its sales. It would be Alpert’s first top 40 hit since his vocal 1968 hit “This Guy’s In Love With You” hit #1. “Rise” would also hit #1 in October of 1979 for two weeks, becoming the first (and only) time an artist hit #1 with a vocal and an instrumental. It also hit #1 on the Adult Contemporary chart and was a hit on the Soul and Disco charts. “Rise” would technically hit #1 again in 1997, when The Notorious B.I.G. sampled the recording for his #1 hit “Hypnotize”.
