Hi, this is Scott with etrailer. Today we're taking a look at and installing our Blue Ox base plate kit for our 2026 Ford Bronco. We get asked a lot of questions on what you will need to get started on flat towing and there's five main components that you're gonna need. You're gonna need your base plate, you're gonna need a tow bar, you're gonna need safety cables, some type of tow bar wiring. And finally, you're gonna need some type of supplemental braking system. And also I like to recommend also picking up a charge line kit, that's gonna help you keep your towed vehicle's battery charged as you're going down the road.
So we have our base plate all installed and just wanna give you an idea of what that's gonna look like with nothing hooked up and you're not flat towing it. So this is basically how you're gonna deal with it on a day-to-day basis. It actually looks pretty good on here and it's kinda tucked back in behind our bumper, so you're not gonna be running into your safety cable loops or anything like that with your legs when you're walking by. And it actually blends in really nice with this color. It's kinda tucks in, and a lot of 'em, you'll have that are kind of a crossbar style.
You can see all the bar that comes across and everything. This one you don't. It's really tucked in really nice. And I think it's really nice setup. Another thing that's nice about this base plate kit, it's gonna come with a little bracket so you have an idea of where you can hook up your breakaway switch, like I have this one set up here.
With that, you can set it up on either side, but it's nice to take away some of that worry of where you're gonna install some of your accessories. Now to hook up, just wanna show you how easy this is to do. All we're gonna do is install our arm, give that a turn, just locks in place. Now we can take the end of our tow bar. Make sure we have our sticker pointing up to the up position.
Let's get that slid in place, line up our pin, go ahead and click in our pin and we're all set. This is what's gonna look like all hooked up and ready to go. One thing about this one is it is pretty wide, so it's spaced apart quite away. So you're probably gonna wanna take a look at a tow bar that's a little bit longer. That way it's gonna help you with your turning radiuses and it will also help you with tracking going down the road, having that longer tow bar. Another thing to take a look at after you get your base plate all installed is you wanna take some measurements. And it's your best bet to stay within three inches from your measurement of the center of the hole and the pin of where your base plate is to the measurement that comes on your receiver here. You wanna measure from your pin hole to the ground and your base plate to the ground and make sure you're within three inches of that number. That's gonna give you the safest way to flat tow. And after you get all set up and you're not within that three inches, we do offer high-low adapters that you can mount up here on your RV that will get you within that range. If you have any questions or comments about this base plate for your Ford Bronco, you can always leave a question or comment down below in the comment section, or you can get ahold of one of our experts here at etrailer. They'd be glad to help you out. As far as installation goes, this one's pretty straightforward and it's pretty simple to do, something you could definitely handle yourself. But if it's something you don't have time to do or you plan on getting a whole setup done, you can always take a look at our dealer locator and get something done for you locally. If it's something you feel like tackling yourself, stick around, watch our video, and we'll help you get it installed. To start our installation, we're gonna need to get our bumper out of the way. So to do that, we're gonna have these two plastic covers on the front. Now, ours don't have any fog lights or sensors in ours, so ours are gonna be pretty easy. If you do have sensors and a fog light, you're gonna wanna be careful because you're gonna have wiring back here. All we're gonna do is just pull this back and it's just gonna pop right off. That's just gonna pop in with these little pins. And we'll do this on both sides. Now on our (indistinct), we don't have
