Shambhavi Mudra Benefits - Hatha Yoga Perspective [Hindi with English CC]
Question is, can you talk about the Shambhavi mudra? In both hatha yoga and tantra, there are mentions of the Shambhavi mudra.
The Shambhavi mudra in hatha yoga is more common and there are 2 variations of it. The first version of the mudra focuses on closing your Ears, Mouth, Eyes and Nose and slowing your breath. The second version includes adding the Bhramari pranayama in the middle leading the overall mudra to become very effective. Overall, the Shambhavi mudra is a good mudra to help keep your mind balanced and channelize your energies. Even if you do the Bhramari pranayama alone, you will feel as though you experience a certain calmness due to the effects of the sound of the pranayama. In tantra, the Shambhavi mudra can only be practiced once you have perfected this mudra in Hatha yoga.
In today’s age, sometimes the effects of some mudras are magnified to such high proportions that one thinks they can achieve anything by just doing this one mudra. Society is looking for a shortcut, they want simplification and just want to do one thing that will give them everything. Just doing one thing cannot give you the answer to everything, as at its’ foundation our mind is not a single entity, we are subject to thousands of thoughts from every direction. But the actual truth hides somewhere else. Ultimately, by focusing on controlling your mind and your speech you can achieve great spiritual progress.
