Dick Tracy's G-Men, Chapter Two: Captured (1939) w/ subtitles

Ralph Byrd stars once again as Chester Gould's comic strip hero.

Plot:
Tracy's investigations lead him to a very fishy abandoned cannery.

Review (DVD talk):
"Byrd is a stolid hero... and handles the action scenes with panache... The series does contain some excellent location footage... it's fun to see Los Angeles and its surrounding canyons circa 1939." – Jeffrey Kauffman

Republic Pictures' first two Dick Tracy serials (1937's "Dick Tracy" and 1938's "Dick Tracy Returns") saw our hero assisted by a generous supporting cast of characters, but with this chapterplay, that cast got streamlined. Fans of Tracy's bumbling, comedy relief assistant "Mike McGurk" or his kid sidekick "Junior" would just have to console themselves with getting more action focused on Tracy himself. All of this is slightly ironic considering that, for the first time, the subject of the title isn't Dick Tracy but his G-Men.

Enjoy, and don't miss the next astounding episode:
