Massachusetts SSN 798 Virginia class submarine launched !
The US Navy is getting a new submarine.
Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) has announced the launch of the Virginia-class submarine Massachusetts (SSN 798) at the Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) division.
The submarine transitioned from the construction facility to a floating dry dock, where it underwent submersion and was subsequently transported by tugboats to a submarine pier at the shipyard where the final outfitting, crew certification, and testing processes took place.
Her keel was laid on 11 December 2020 at Newport News Shipbuilding, in a virtual ceremony due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
