April 2024 — The US Navy Made History And Nobody Noticed | Aegis BMD First Kill #AegisBMD

April 13-14, 2024: USS Arleigh Burke and USS Carney fired SM-3 Block IIA missiles against Iranian ballistic missiles headed for Israel — the FIRST combat intercept of a ballistic missile by a US Navy warship in history. Six months later on October 1, USS Bulkeley and USS Cole intercepted roughly 12 of 180 Iranian ballistic missiles in the second Iranian attack. The SM-3 costs $28M per missile. The new SPY-6 radar is 30× more sensitive than the legacy SPY-1 on Flight III Burkes.
