LMP LIVE! at St Giles, Cripplegate, with guest soloist Tasmin Little OBE – July 2020
The London Mozart Players’ second socially-distanced concert in partnership with Classic FM was performed in July 2020 at the end of the Covid-19 lockdown, in the Church of St Giles, Cripplegate, in the City of London.
Directed by LMP Leader Ruth Rogers, the strings-only concert features violinist virtuoso Tasmin Little OBE performing ‘The Lark Ascending’ by Vaughan Williams, with the orchestra also playing Grieg’s ‘Holberg Suite’ and Copland’s ‘Hoedown’ as the exhilarating finale. As an ‘added extra’, the LMP and Tasmin also present a special arrangement for solo violin and strings (by LMP’s Martin Smith) of Elgar’s beautiful ‘Salut d’Amour’.
Like many organisations, the London Mozart Players has been greatly impacted by the cancellation of concerts, with audience-attended events not expected to resume until 2021. It has launched an ‘SOS appeal’ to raise funds to help the orchestra continue to make music. If everyone who watches this concert made a small donation, it would help secure the LMP’s future during these worrying times for the arts.
You can donate by text: simply add the amount you wish to donate to LMPLIVE (eg 'LMPLIVE5' to donate £5) and text to 70085 (UK only).
