How To Handle Fast Balls In Tennis - Tennis Lesson

How To Handle Fast Balls In Tennis - Tennis Lesson
How to handle fast balls in tennis? When we are in a normal rally situation, and suddenly our opponent hits the ball with more power, it can really throw off our timing. Being able to handle fast balls is one of the skills that all tennis players should work on.
Why are fast balls so tough to handle?
The main reason that players struggle with fast balls in tennis is the fact that they have less time.
Time is a very precious commodity on the tennis court, and when your opponent hits with more power, they are taking time away from you.
However, there are ways to create time for yourself and in this tennis lesson, coach Simon Konov of Top Tennis Training will help you deal with those fast balls.
Big vs Small Swing
On a normal rally ball, you'll have time for your normal forehand and backhand swing. When we're taking the ball on the rise or dealing with fast balls, you will have to shorten your backswing to adjust to having less time.
When you have no time at all, you may use your return of serve swing. When you have a bit more time, a shortened version of your normal swing will do the trick.

Balance
It's important that we maintain good balance when dealing with fast balls, and it all starts with creating a low centre of gravity.
