Africa is a large continentwith over 1.2billion people scattered amongst its 54 sovereign countries. Due to the fact that some countries are bigger than others in terms of surface area, they are more likely to have a higher population than others. Africa’s population has rapidly been increasing in recent years. The increase is presentingopportunities and challenges alike as these countriesstruggle to adapt to as more residents’ struggle to compete for urban resources that are stressed to the limit. How ever the rising population is equally creating new opportunities on fiscal, technological and social fronts.

There are 54 sovereign countries in Africa but these are the top most populated ones.
10. Sudan 43,849,260 People
Sudan is a country in northeastern Africa. It is bordered by Egypt to the north, Libya to the northwest, Chad to the west, the Central African Republic to the southwest, South Sudan to the south, Ethiopia to the southeast, Eritrea to the east, and the Red Sea to the northeast. Sudan has a population of 43 million people and occupies 1,886,068km2, making it Africa's third-largest country and also the third-largest in the Arab world. Although most of the land in Sudan is arid, many major settlements exist along riverbanks. It is the 10th most populated country in Africa.

It is a semi-presidential republic consisting of 48 provinces and 1,541 communes and the 9th most populated country in Africa.

With a population of more than 53 million people, Kenya is the 7th most populous nation in Africa. Kenya's capital and largest city is Nairobi while its oldest city and first capital is the coastal city of Mombasa.Kenya is bordered by South Sudan to the North West, Ethiopia to the North, Somalia to the East, Uganda to the West, Tanzania to the South and the Indian Ocean to the South-East.
