Landscape photography - shooting with a 300mm lens

As a challenge, I went out to do some landscape photography and only shoot at 300mm focal length. I used a Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6, and also took a 300mm f/2.8 prime lens to compare the difference in quality. Is it even feasible to use a 300mm prime for outdoors and travel?
