An Evening With Bob Woodward and Robert Costa
Join us on October 20 for an evening with Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Bob Woodward and his Washington Post colleague Robert Costa on their new bestselling book Peril (Simon & Schuster, 2021), on the rocky presidential transition from Donald Trump to Joe Biden. Drawing on interviews with more than 200 people at the center of the turmoil, Woodward and Costa offer a disturbing but spellbinding portrait of a nation on the brink of unbridled chaos. Mark Updegrove, President and CEO of the LBJ Foundation, moderates the discussion with Woodward and Costa. The program is co-hosted by the LBJ Presidential Library and the Harry Ransom Center, whose director Stephen Enniss will introduce our guests.
The Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein Watergate Papers are accessible for research at the Ransom Center on The University of Texas at Austin campus. The extensive archive includes interview notes, manuscripts, story drafts, court documents, correspondence, and other materials relating to the reporters’ investigative work on the Watergate scandal for The Washington Post and their books All the President’s Men (1974) and The Final Days (1976). This historical record is a primary resource for students and researchers of the Nixon presidency and the Watergate scandal’s continuing impact on American society.
About the speakers:
Robert Costa is a national political reporter at The Washington Post, where he has worked since 2014. He previously served as moderator and managing editor of Washington Week on PBS and as a political analyst for NBC News and MSNBC.

About the book:
The transition from President Donald J. Trump to President Joseph R. Biden Jr. stands as one of the most dangerous periods in American history. But as internationally bestselling author Bob Woodward and acclaimed reporter Robert Costa reveal for the first time, it was far more than just a domestic political crisis.
This classic study of Washington takes readers deep inside the Trump White House, the Biden White House, the 2020 campaign, and the Pentagon and Congress, with vivid, eyewitness accounts of what really happened.Peril is supplemented throughout with never-before-seen material from secret orders, transcripts of confidential calls, diaries, emails, meeting notes and other personal and government records, making for an unparalleled history.
