Yak-1 engine start-up, or, 'Butch makes some noise'

Butch Foster starts up an engine on the Yak-1 replica airplane.

When I came to Springbank airport to 'check on him', he asked me with a mischievous expression on his face: "Wanna hear some noise?" Sure I did have an idea what kind of noise he was going to make..

It wasn't the VERY FIRST start up. Butch and Ron did that a short while before. They found a few snags after the start, and it seemed like they fixed them, and now Butch was quite proud to demonstrate a smooth engine run.

A homebuild project of the Yak-1 (86% of the real size) began in 2001, and the plane was almost ready to fly by the time it is shown on video.
