Clammers of Highlands, NJ
For as long as anyone remembers, Clammers (or "Diggers") have been going out to the Shrewsbury River, Raritan Bay and Sandy Hook Bay to hunt for clams. They've been getting clams in the same way that their ancestors did -- without modern equipment and with hours of tedious work. It's difficult and challenging, but they do it almost everyday. While this video features one such Clammer, his story is much the same for all of them. The video is dedicated to them and those who came before.
