Human Activist & Rights Advocate - Charlie Kirk Shot Dead during Speech at Utah Valley University

Human Activist and Human Rights Advocate - Charlie Kirk of 31 years, co-founder of Turning Point USA - was shot and killed during a public event at Utah Valley University (UVU) in Orem, Utah.

The shooting happened around 12:10 PM local time (18:10 GMT), about 20 minutes after the event began. This was the first stop of Kirk’s "American Comeback Tour," which included at least 15 scheduled events at universities across the U.S.

More than 3,000 people were attending when a gunshot was fired, hitting Kirk in the neck. He collapsed from his chair as the audience ran for cover. His wife Erika and their two young daughters were there and were quickly escorted to safety. No one else was injured in the incident.

Just before the shooting, Kirk was debating with a student about mass shootings and transgender issues at his signature "Prove Me Wrong" table.

Investigators believe the shot was fired from a rooftop or open window. A high-powered bolt-action rifle was recovered nearby in a wooded area. The suspect is described as a college-aged male wearing dark clothing and was seen fleeing in surveillance footage. The FBI and ATF are leading the investigation and an active manhunt is underway.

President Donald Trump called the killing a "dark moment for America" and said Kirk was a strong voice for young conservatives. Trump announced that he will posthumously award Charlie Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor in the U.S.

Utah Governor Spencer Cox called the attack a "political assassination." Leaders from both parties have condemned the shooting.

Charlie Kirk co-founded Turning Point USA when he was just 18 years old, becoming a prominent figure in American conservative politics. His death has left many shocked across the country.
