Dyson Powerhead Teardown and "Repair" Attempt - Part 1

This is a Dyson powerhead that I have been using with my DC35 handheld vacuum for quite some time. It is from a later model (possibly a V6?), and I have been having issues with it stalling under little or no load. The vacuum itself does not shut down, but the power to the head is cut until the trigger on the vacuum is released and pressed again.

Originally, I had thought that this was either due to circuitry in the powerhead, or a problem in the powerhead itself. After doing some research, I had come to find that the original powerhead for the DC35, although (almost) identical in appearance to the one I have, is only rated for 9 watts at 16.2 volts. This powerhead is rated for 20 watts at 16.2 volts. That certainly explains why the vacuum is cutting the power to the powerhead!

However, I did that research after I tore the thing apart, so we will trudge along and cobble something together that sort of works! Stay tuned for part 2!
