Kenmore Junior De Luxe REBOOT

Taking another look at this antique Kenmore Junior De Luxe handheld vacuum cleaner.

This vacuum appears, for all intensive purposes to have never been used. The bag is spotless, the finish is outstanding, the cord looks brand new (although age has taken its toll on the rubber insulation), it has a spare belt, and it's in its original box. The owner's manual and whatever packaging it may have had, however, are no longer present.

What is also not present is the motor shaft extension which would both serve as a nut to secure the fan impeller, as well as driving the belt to run the brush.

Was this vacuum purchased from Sears and returned because it didn't work properly? Perhaps it was never sold at all? Was it carried home by a factory worker or did it sit for years on a warehouse shelf somewhere? We may never know.

What we do know is that we will be attempting to repair this vacuum in a future video. The part shouldn't be very difficult to make, and I have a number of vacs of a similar style that I can use for a reference to the design of the part.
