SOUTHERN RAILWAY, Steam Vol-2

Britain's Southern Railway was renowned for its 'Southern Electric' system, which meant that its steam locomotives had to soldier on much longer than those of other railways.

This resulted in many Victorian locomotive designs surviving to the end of steam in the 1960's and into the preservation era. Using unique archival footage of locomotives in action in the 1950's and 1960's, together with contemporary material of today's preserved locomotives, this video shows the variety - from the famous Stroudly 'Terriers' to the magnificent Bulleid Pacifics such as 'Clan Line', 'Swanage' and 'City of Wells'.

* 241 M7 0-4-4T
