Braces Explained: Bite Turbos

In this video, I will be answer the question of "what are bite turbos? And what are they for?"

Bite turbos primary purpose is to prevent your upper and lower teeth from fully coming together. This is important because in some cases, to put braces on in the ideal position, your upper teeth overlap your lower teeth too much and would break the braces off your teeth. Therefore, your orthodontist may put bite turbos on your front teeth or back teeth to prevent them from fully coming together. This is only temporary and once your teeth have aligned enough, your orthodontist can remove the bite turbos!

You may feel slightly more discomfort on the teeth with the bite turbos and the teeth that these bite turbos are contact against. This is because they are the only teeth that are coming in contact with one another. This pain is temporary and will go away but it is something to be aware of! If you notice that your bite turbos have fallen off, please make sure you let your orthodontist know because you do not want to start biting on your lower braces and break the brackets!
