[BRACES EXPLAINED] Power Chains

Braces Explained: Power Chains

In this video, I will be answer the question of "what are power chains?" and "what are they used for?" Power chains are like rubber bands that attach to individual teeth and are used to close space or to hold together teeth where space has already been closed. They have shape memory, much like a rubber band, and once they are stretched between two teeth, or a group of teeth, they want to return to their original shape and therefore add a tension force to the teeth. Over time, your teeth adapt to these forces and begin to come closer together! Once we have all the teeth together, power chains can be used to hold the teeth the way they are, such that spaces do not re-open!
