Kelewele: How to make mouthwatering Kelewele using the authentic recipe.
Kelewele is African spicy fried ripe plantains it is flavorful and presents complex textures; crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. As a snack can be eaten with peanuts. It is also an excellent side dish for other meals.
INGREDIENTS:
* 4 ripened plantains (avoid over ripened as it will absorb a lot of oil while frying)
* 1/4 medium white onion (or onion type such as red onions)
* thumb size ginger
* 1/4 tsp of crushed black pepper
* 1/2 tsp salt
* A spoon of cloves
* A spoon of anise seeds
* 6 roasted dry red chilis ( please adjust amount to desired heat level)
* 4 cups of oil for deep frying.
