Hey there, I'm Karli. Brad Pitt hit a grand slam with fans who came
out to see him at the stateside premiere of Moneyball last night. We spoke
with the star about filming in Oakland and he shared a funny story about
baseball loving Maddox and Derek Jeter. Check that out and more in today's
PopSugar Rush!
"I hope people will be pleased, I hope they see it
as a love letter to Oakland."
Brad Pitt was a hit at the Moneyball premiere in Oakland, California
Monday night, but when it came to impressing his son Maddox at a baseball
game in New York a few years back, he told us that he somewhat struck out.
"We went to a Yankees game and we were sitting next to
the dugout and Jeter offered him a cracked bat and he looked at it and
goes, it's broken!"
"Meanwhile, his onscreen daughter shared a
very sweet story about working with Brad Pitt and a special gift he sent
to her."
"We had a scene, the guitar shop scene, was
one of my favorites and we were looking around at guitars that we both
really liked, and he was like, well what about that one, and I was like,
oh I love that one, and he ended up sending it to me, so I have a Brad
Pitt guitar and he sent a really sweet note, so that was probably my
favorite (laughs)"
Jonah Hill, Chris Pratt and Philip Seymour Hoffman also hit the
baseball diamond carpet, and Brad's onscreen team very fittingly gave him
an "A" for his portrayal of the Oakland Athletics's general manager, Billy
Beane.
"He can't throw/But what can he do?/You want me
to speak?/When I point at you yeah./He gets on base."
"Brad Pitt's performance definitely is top
notch, this is some amazing character work he's doing, it's very subtle
and very nuanced and for a movie that's set in the world of baseball it's
incredibly artful."
"He's incredibly driven, I mean this
has been his baby for a while, so we wanted to show up and do the best we
could because he had kind of been carrying it for a while, it's pretty
great."
"he's a great guy, he's really down to Earth,
completely complimentary about the work, very generous wth suggestions and
notes, he's a great guy."
The All Star actor made sure to cover all the bases ‹ posing for
photos, making the rounds with reporters, and introducing the film inside
the theater before enjoying himself at the afterparty.
Brad is receiving lots of Oscar buzz for this performance, though
win or lose come award season, Mr. Pitt told us he truly had a ball
filming this flick in the same stadium where baseball history was made.
"Being here was so special for us because the fans were so
great, they came out stayed up with us all night to recreate these games,
and I think this was a special time as well for the city that the film
portrays so I hope people will be pleased."
