In this video, KTO goes to LA to interview 6x grammy nominated,TDE in house engineer, Mixed By Ali.His career began in Los Angeles in the late 2000s recording and mixing for Top Dawg Entertainment artists such as Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, SZA, Ab-Soul, isaiah rashad, Bas, Nipsey Hussle, Snoop Dogg, Mac Miller, BrockHampton, Cardi B, Childish Gambino and more. He is also the creator of EngineEars, an online mixing service with renowned engineers. We sat down with him and talked about his love for the city of Vancouver after visiting on the DAMN tour with Kendrick Lamar and Travis Scott. Arshan goes on to ask about audio advice for his interview with SoFaygo and talks to Ali about his own audio issues, including recording Section 80 on a broken mic. Throughout the interview he gives advice to the youth on succeeding in the industry and how he declined an offer to Los Angeles College of music and taught himself how to engineer music. He encourages the youth to focus on what they are interested in and “drown” themselves in knowledge. Arshan then asks Ali on who is an artist he thinks is up next. Ali says Baby Keem, who is Kendrick Lamar’s cousin. MixedbyAli and Baby Keem worked on his single “No Sense” together. Towards the end of the interview he talks more about his platform called Engine Ears which connects artists to the right engineers to work with it and be a part of the right business plan. At the end of the interview he also talks about a potential J Cole and Kendrick collaboration.
