Impaling the Enemy: Macedonian Phalanx

Created under Philip II and later mastered by Alexander the Great, the Macedonian phalanx relied on the long sarissa spear, stretching up to 6.5 meters. Its tightly packed ranks locked enemy forces in place, allowing Macedonian cavalry to attack the exposed flanks.
