Painting Part 1

We are in the process of painting the house. It is taking much longer than we expected. We have found that it is important to choose a great primer and paint. The better quality of paint the less coats of paint it takes. Which also means less time! We tried shortcuts that led to more time. The paint gun did not work with our paint and we thought we would use a cheaper top coat paint and that didn’t work because the paint was a different color white and it was like painting with water.

Painting the tongue and groove is taking more time than painting the drywall and Jodie decided to paint the beams black which is taking extra time to tape and paint. Jodie’s dad helped with painting and Chad’s parents kept Thomas for a few days to allow for extended days painting. Jodie’s step-dad has also been watching Thomas and helping prepare the chicken coop for winter (check out Instagram for those updates)

We had an intruder in the house that left a snakeskin. So we have a snake somewhere either in the house, in the walls, in the crawl space, in the attic or in the ductwork. The snakeskin was over four feet long. We are 90% sure it is not a venomous snake. But there is still concern over where this snake may be hiding.

Although we are taking much longer painting we are making the best of it by listening to podcasts and serenading each other with music from back in our younger days. (Watch til the end to hear Chad singing!)

—————————————————————————————————————————————

We have prayed for the past two years for God to lead us in the right direction for a new homestead property. We’ve been trusting Him to guide us down the right path.

We had an ideal property in mind and on July 5th, 2020 we visited that property and closed on it August 6th, 2020. It is a fixer-upper, but we know with prayer, hard work, and help from our friends and family we will achieve our dreams of being self-sufficient with our food and energy.

Isaiah 40:31
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

We’ve been on a journey with many ups and downs. This verse has been coming back to us over and over and feels fitting to our journey.

Watch as we tackle home projects, start homeschooling, and strengthen our faith in God. We hope that we can help inspire you to chase after your dreams and welcome God into your hearts.
