Passport Booklet Tutorial - Super Simple!
In this video, I show how I make my passport size booklets ... super simple ... and I offer a few alternate suggestions if you don't have a sewing machine. These booklets are fun to make and you can use whatever you have on hand -- I prefer using cards already close to the correct size (5x7") which folded makes them 3.5x5". Now with booklets costing anywhere from $3 to $9 it can really be nice to make your own! You can personalize them and really enjoy the feeling of having made something! You can also have some control over what type of paper goes into your booklet. With fountain pen writing that is very important!
Things I use to make the booklets:
* note-cards, or card stock cut to 5x7"
* paper whatever I have on hand usually CVS Caliber but right now I am blessed with 80 gsm Rhodia grid paper due to a thrift store find.
* paper cutter
* corner rounder(s)
*sewing machine, thread and #16 needle
Here are the dimensions you need (for Passport size booklets):
COVER:
cut to 5x7 inches which equals: 127 mm x 178 mm
PAGES:
cut to 4 and 3/4" x 6 and 3/4 inches which equals: 120 mm x 170 mm
The places I normally find quality note-cards are: thrift stores, Half Price Bookstore, Tuesday Morning, and Barnes and Noble. Oh how I miss the Half Price Bookstore right now!
I showed that a mat and stapler could be used to make these booklets - or a pad and paper piercer ... something I have yet to try but is on my bucket list to learn is stitching my own booklets by hand. Meanwhile, I'm far too lazy so I use a #16 sewing machine needle dedicated to the job.
I hope you are all doing well and that this video helps those who have asked how I make my passport booklets. I think there are many videos out there that support many ways to make these! I plan to continue to learn new things and one day I will make a Tomoe River notebook! I've been a bit chicken about trying one of those so far.
Thank you for watching and I hope you are safe and well.
