In this video, we are continuing our road trip through Italy and this time we are in the capital city of Rome Italy. We decided to visit Rome in winter and see all the main attractions without the usual crowds.
We start our Rome city tour by visiting the Roman Forum Rome and the Colosseum. Since there are a lot of things to see in Rome, we decided to book a guided tour. Although we got unlucky with the weather and it rained during our guided tour in Rome, we still loved visiting Rome in winter since there are a lot less people and almost no queues at all. The Roman Forum was a great site to visit because you can get an idea of how ancient Rome looked like. As one of the top things to do in Rome, make sure you take your time to visit all areas of the Roman Forum Rome Italy.
Next in our must see places in Rome list is the world renowned Colosseum Rome. We start by going on the Colosseum Underground tour. Going on a Colosseum guided tour is a must when you visit Rome, because there is so much history here which is definitely worth exploring. Next, we get to see the outdoor area of the Colosseum which is as impressive as the underground. Because we visited the Colosseum Rome during the winter months, we got to see the main attractions in Rome with no tourists at all.
Next in our sightseeing tour in Rome we visit the Vatican City. There are 2 main attractions here, The Vatican Museums and the Saint Peter's Basilica with the beautiful Sistine Chapel.
We start our Vatican City Tour in Saint Peter Square in Vatican City. Because we visited Rome in Winter, there were almost no people so we did not have to stay in long queues to see the main tourist attractions in Rome.
Next in our Rome city tour, we head over to the Vatican Museums. The Vatican Museum is made up of multiple buildings displaying the most valuable possessions of the Vatican.
To finish up the day, we visit the world famous Fontana di Trevi. If visiting Rome during winter meant we saw the city without tourists, that was not the case for Fontana di Trevi Rome. As always, there were many people at the fountain, making pictures and tossing a coin in the fountain water to make a wish.
The next day, we start our Rome exploration at the Piazza Navona. The plaza is a beautiful place to walk around, marvel at the beautiful fountains and sit down in one of the many restaurants. If you are visiting Rome, Piazza Navona Rome is definitely a must see.
Last but not least, as part of our Rome guided tour, we head over to Saint Peter's Basilica. The St. Peter's Basilica is the most visited place in Rome so we have to stay in a short queue to get inside, however it was one of the most beautiful places in Rome. As the biggest church in the world, the Basilica di San Petro has thousands of visitors all year round. As part of our Saint Peter Basilica Vatican tour, we also got to visit both the Sistine Chapel and the St. Peter Basilica Terrace. The terrace offers a 360 degrees view of the whole city or Rome Italy. To get to the terrace, you need to climb over 500 stairs, which can be a bit strenuous, however the view on the top is the best viewpoint in Rome.
