I made a grocery shopping list for Christmas and made a video about it during the pandemic. I decided to redo that video to spare you (and me) masks and similar reminders of the time.

These are some basic items that you’ll find in most homes in Rome. Enjoy it!

For Vigilia di Natale (Christmas Eve)
• La frittura di pesce—calamari, gamberi, alici, baccalà (Fried fish—calamari, shrimps, anchovies, cod)
and/or
• La frittura di verdure—broccoli, carciofi, crocchette di patate (Fried veggies—broccoli, artichokes, potato dumplings)
• Brodo di arzilla (Sea ray soup); use some short pasta or break spaghetti into pieces
• Spaghetti con vongole veraci (Spaghetti with clams)
• Spigola o Rombo e patate (Sea Bass or Halibut and baked potatoes)

For Natale (Christmas Day)
• Tortellini in brodo (Cockeril soup with tortellini)
• Fettuccine o ravioli al ragù (Fettuccine or Ravioli in Ragù/Bolognese sauce)
• Cappone o Costolette d'abbacchio fritte o al forno (Stuffed cockerel or fried/baked Lamb Chops)
• Carciofo alla Romana (Roman style artichokes)

Desserts
• Panforte
• Pangiallo
• Panpepato
• Pandoro
• Panettone
• Mostaccioli
• Croccante alle mandorle….
