Are we significant in the universe | Clement Vidal | TEDxEindhoven

Based on our current scientific understanding of the universe as we know it, it is about 13.8 billion years old, give or take a couple of million. Over those 13 or so billion years, all kinds of fascinating, mesmerising, beautiful and terrifying phenomena have emerged. Our human capability to have thoughts, ideas or lightbulb moments is, as far as we know, unique in the universe. To provide some perspective on our lightbulb moments, Clément spoke at TEDxEindhoven to share his thoughts and philosophies on the evolution of the cosmos. Dr. Clément Vidal is a philosopher with a background in logic and cognitive sciences. He is co-founder of the Evo Devo Universe community and founder of the High Energy Astrobiology prize. In 2014, he authored The Beginning and the End: The Meaning of Life in a Cosmological Perspective. He is eager to tackle big questions, bringing together areas of knowledge such as cosmology, physics, astrobiology, complexity science or evolutionary theory. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
