WATCH: Barrett would likely resist restrictions on gun purchases and use, civil rights lawyer says

Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., asked civil rights lawyer Kristen Clarke whether Judge Amy Coney Barrett's interpretation of the law might lead her to support striking down gun control measures.

"We believe that her orientation is one such that it would be more likely that she would seek to expand an individual's right to obtain and use guns, and that she would likely resist restrictions on the purchase and use of guns," said Clarke, president and executive director of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law.

The exchange came during the final day of the Senate Judiciary Committee's Supreme Court confirmation hearing for Barrett. The judge did not appear before the committee on the final day of the hearing. Instead, both Republicans and Democrats called outside witnesses to speak to her record and approach to the law.
