Acts 16:20-34
Paul and his travelling companions have been rerouted by God from preaching in Asia to heading over to Macedonia and Europe. They choose to stay in jail to save the life of the jailer. They allowed Jesus to reroute them and it didn’t just save his life, it rerouted his life too. Philippi was the first european church plant of Paul’s that we know of, and it was people like this Philippian jailer who would have been one of its early leaders. Talk about suicide and the hope of a greater story that God provides.
