The first RSPBA European Pipe Band Championships for some years to be held in Aberdeen was a great success. The winner of the Grade One competition was Inveraray and District Pipe Band under Pipe Major Stuart Liddell and Drum Sergeant Steven McWhirter.
The band's March, Strathspey and Reel selection was:
March: John MacColl's March to Kilbowie Cottage - William Lawrie (188 - 1916)
Strathspey: Tulloch Castle - Roderick Campbell (1873 - 1937)
Reel: Major David Manson - Peter R. MacLeod (1879 - 1965)
