Andrew Bridgen: The EU see Brexit talks as 'way of taking back control of UK through back door'
Tory MP Andrew Bridgen reacts to the latest extension of Brexit trade talks, saying time is running out for Parliamant to properly scrutinise any potential deal.
Speaking with talkRADIO's Mike Graham, the Brexiteer said: “We want a trade deal…but for the European Union it’s all about politics.
"They see these negotiations not as a trade deal, they see it as a way of taking back control of the UK through the back door."
Brussels’ chief negotiator Michel Barnier has insisted a trade deal between the UK and European Union is still possible after talks were extended on Sunday.
Boris Johnson and European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen agreed to continue the process despite major differences still remaining.
